2025 Ford Explorer:
The Ford Explorer gets a hefty round of updates for 2025,
featuring new looks inside and out, and hands-free-driving
technology. Updates include larger, redesigned front grille, new
LED headlights, a new skid plate, and lower air curtains for
better fuel economy. Out back, a redesigned tailgate with new
LED taillights wraps up the look. Inside, cabin materials have
been revised, and Ford BlueCruise makes its debut in the
Explorer. BlueCruise is a hands-free driving assist that works
on selected roads nationwide. The Explorer is assembled at
Ford’s Chicago Assembly Plant. The three-row crossover
seats up to 7 passengers and is only available as a 4-door
wagon. Competitors include the Chevrolet Traverse, Honda
Pilot, Nissan Pathfinder, Toyota Highlander and Volkswagen
Atlas. A high-performance variant is also available.
Four trims are offered: Platinum, ST, ST-Line, and Active. Two engines
are available: A turbocharged 2.3-liter 4-cylinder that produces 300
horsepower, and a turbocharged 3.0-liter V6 that produces 400
horsepower. All engines pair to a 10-speed automatic transmission.
Rear-wheel drive is standard with all-wheel-drive being optional.
Maximum towing capacity is rated at 5,600 pounds.
The Explorer ST is considered the high-performance variant and also
the range-topping model of the lineup. It is equipped with sporty
bucket seats, 21-inch black wheels, vented front and rear brakes, as
well as high-performance brake pads and tires. Pricing ranges from
$41,000 to $60,000.
