HELLCAT REDEYE Sport Coupe
TYPE
Go big or go home. Those are words that are surely bouncing around the vehicle development meetings at Dodge. If the 707-hp DRIVETRAIN
Hellcat wasn’t enough to burn through your annual tire budget, Dodge has a solution for you: the 797-hp Hellcat Redeye. The 6.2-liter 8-cylinder
supercharged V-8 from the Demon found its way into a Hellcat, along with the eight-speed automatic, line-lock and launch control. w/797-HP
Absent from the mix, however, is the trans brake. And you can’t reclaim the missing 32-hp that the Demon packs, thanks to the 8-speed Automatic
tuning map in the Redeye’s ECU, so pumping it full of race fuel won’t do you any good. But make no mistake, this Challenger variant
is all about laying down impressive quarter-mile times, and Dodge claims that a 10.8 second blast through the lights is possible. Transmission
It’s not all about straight-line acceleration, though, as the Redeye comes with three- FUEL ECONOMY
mode Bilstein Dampers on all four corners. The only way to differentiate between the N/A at time of
standard Hellcat and the Redeye is to look for the red eyes in the Hellcat emblem. publication

2020 FORD MUSTANG SHELBY GT500 SPECS
Ford is bringing back the Mustang Shelby GT500 for 2020, and it’ll be packed with monstrous performance. What does that TYPE
mean? It means a supercharged V-8 putting out more than 700 horsepower. Ford has yet to release exact figures, but anything Sport Coupe
north of 700 is monstrous, indeed. The 5.2-liter V-8, fitted with a 2.7-liter Eaton supercharger, is a derivative of Ford’s GT350 DRIVETRAIN
power plant, although this one doesn’t have the flat-plane crankshaft carried by its naturally aspirated sibling. With track 5.2-liter Supercharged
performance clearly in mind, Ford is fitting the GT500’s V-8 with a new cast-aluminum structural oil pan that has static baffles V-8, 700+ HP (est.)
and hinged doors, both meant to prevent oil-starvation under high g-forces. A seven-speed dual-clutch automatic takes care 7-Speed Dual-clutch
of the shifting, and there will be no manual option available. While that may rattle some of the purists out there, the shifts Automatic Transmission
will be lightning quick at about a tenth of a second. Drag mode will fire through the gears with no torque interruption and
track mode will evaluate (very quickly) a variety of factors before executing shifts, such as FUEL ECONOMY
steering angle, in order to avoid destabilizing the GT500. It’s attention to details like N/A at time of
these that lets you know Ford intends this car to turn left and right at high publication
speeds, not just blast along in straight lines. Of BASE PRICE
course, all that power needs to be hauled- N/A at time of
in occasionally, so the GT500 will be publication
equipped with 6-piston Brembos up front
and 4-piston units on the rear.
