2023 KIA SPORTAGE
The Kia Sportage is all new for 2023, featuring a
refreshed exterior and interior design, dual curved
12.3-inch infotainment touchscreens, a more
powerful inline-4 engine and, for the first time ever, a
hybrid model. The Sportage is a compact crossover
that seats 5 passengers and is only available as a
4-door wagon. Competitors include the Ford Escape, Honda CR-V and Toyota RAV4.
There will be seven trims available: LX, EX, SX, SX-Prestige, X-Line, X-Pro, and X-Pro Prestige.
Gas models get a new 2.5-liter 4-cylinder promising 187 horsepower that pairs to an 8-speed
automatic transmission. Hybrid models combine a 1.6-liter turbocharged engine with a 44-kilowatt
motor to achieve 226 horsepower. Front-wheel-drive will be standard with all-wheel-drive being
optional.
Full details are yet to be released, but Kia also expects the new 4-cylinder engine to be more
efficient than the outgoing 2.4-liter unit and the hybrid is expected to achieve a 39 MG combined
rating. The new X-Line and X-Pro trims will focus on making the Sportage more rugged and
capable of driving on mild trails should outdoor-focused customers desire so. Pricing has yet to
be announced.
